In 1927 The Ideal Home published a series of articles telling the story of 'New Ways' a startlingly modern house built for W.J Bassett-Lowke in Northampton.
Designed by Peter Behrens, the "Super Modern House" was fully illustrated with photographs taken by its proud owner.
Firmly 'of the future', New Ways was the first modern house in Britain. An essential read for anyone interested in modern architecture. Several photos contain Mackintosh-designed furniture or fittings that originated at 78 Derngate.
A fascinating companion read to the earlier 78 Derngate Ideal Home reprint .
