Event description

Sylvia Pinches received her doctorate in 2001. In 2002 she became Curator of 78 Derngate, Northampton during the period of its restoration until the second year of being open to the public (2005). This role combined historical and business skills; researching the history of the house, presenting the material through display panels, the guidebook and training the volunteer guides.

Les Patterson is the Company Secretary of the 78 Derngate Trust and was the co-founder of the charity. He was a teacher and also a local politician and has been involved with this historic house prior to its restoration.

Together they will be telling the story of the formation of the 78 Derngate Trust, the work undertaken to secure funding and then the beginnings of the restoration itself.

This will be an opportunity to hear at first hand from those directly involved how this historic house was saved, funded, restored and opened to the public.
