Suitcase comes home

We’re very pleased to have received on loan a rather special suitcase which belonged to W.J Bassett-Lowke. W.J was always on the move; a trait immortalised in a cheeky cartoon from his time in business. His trusty case saw service in many parts of Britain and the wider world and carries many stickers telling the tale. It’s a substantially made piece of luggage and at around 100 years old is still in good condition. We’re very grateful to our friend and colleague Philip Warner from Northampton’s National Leather Collection who has arranged this loan. The case is now on display at 78 Derngate.
